What is FLUSH?
The term Flush stands for “Feudal Rush”. This strategy involves reaching the feudal age at about 9:30 – 10:00 min and attacking with a force of skirmishers, spearmen, archers and sometimes scout. The prime goal is to break the opponent’s economy by killing his villagers and harassing him mentally by bugging him again and again.
Executing a successful FLUSH…
Similar to any Feudal Age attack, enemy territory exploration forms the backbone of FLUSH too. At time near about 5:30 mins (in which you must have found the 2 boars and at least 6 sheep), send your scout to explore enemy base. Send 2-3 of your full health villagers at time around 7:30 min to enemy base and order them to make a barrack. Make sure its out of sight of the enemy for attack’s surprise. Don’t forget keep 2 of your villagers (instead of casual 1) on wood from around 3:00 on wood to make up for the wood utilization. At around 7:50, when you have about 22 villagers, click on the feudal age button. Keep 11-12 villies on lumber, 6-7 villies on food and if you are planning to capture a mine or two by towers, only then keep 2-3 villies on stone. Make an Archery Range whenever possible.
As soon as you advance to feudal age, order an army of skirmishers (better because attack from range) and spearmen. Order villager in TC, research lumber but skip the Horse Collar technology for the time being. Instead eat deer for food. As soon you gather about 3-4 skirmishers and 2-3 spearmen, attack his villagers. Most vulnerable locations are mining camps, forage mill and lumber camp. Focus more on lumber villagers because you find many of them at the same place + generally most away from TC and they generally can run only in a single direction. Also, try to focus on villagers 1 by 1 so that they are not spared with few hit points. The main aim of this strategy is to kill as many villagers as possible. Also if the enemy shifts his villies to some other place, follow them… keep bugging the enemy so that he gets irritated.
Never keep your attacking villagers remain idle. Make them build houses and blacksmith. Capture an enemy mine where your villies can work. Be a little aggressive and keep forwarding your buildings. If you are fortunate enough, you will be able to establish your Castle right in front of his TC’s face.
Civilizations suited for FLUSH
Huns – No houses. You save 30 wood on each house (minus the 100 wood deficit start) but more importantly you save 25 seconds of villager’s time which you can invest to lumber wood.
Byzantines – Cheaper spears and skirms ensure your economy stays strong. Strong buildings also help somewhat.
Mongols –Hunters work faster and scouts have larger area of sight. With faster hunting, you can always flush earlier.
Mayans – Resources last 20% longer, cheaper archers and an extra villager. As your resources last longer, your farming is postponed saving you wood. Again, you can use archers instead of skirms (archers are better) because of their cheap nature (Don’t forget gold mining in this case).
For those who don’t know how the resource bonus works, its like this: a mayan villager collects 10 wood from a 100 wood tree, then the villager will hold 10 wood but the tree would be left with 92 wood (Jadoo… it’s magic :D).
